Whether you come to yoga in search of greater strength and flexibility, physical healing or a deeper understanding of life, this well-trodden path has something to offer you. Anyone can benefit from the practice of yoga. People of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and faiths come to yoga. Some are in great health, others come with physical limitations, and No! you don't have to be flexible to do it.

Meditation and Relaxation

Yoga is not just a physical practice, and aspects of mindfulness training are woven into the session. The deep calm and mental resilience that arises from good yoga has its roots in the spiritual aspect of the practice.

In yoga we open our hearts both physically and spiritually and take this attitude with us into our daily life. Each class is concluded with an opportunity to meditate together and although this is of course optional, the five minutes we spend on it may turn out to be the best part!

There is also a time for relaxation near the end of the class and although some people choose to leave early, most find this a very pleasant experience. You'll take one of the soft blankets provided, and lie down flat on your back (or on your side if you're expecting).

Your teacher will guide you through a process of relaxation and dim the lights while playing some soft music. This is where your efforts in the physical practice are integrated into your whole body and the healing begins.

Many people find that after a yoga class their sleep that night is much deeper and more refreshing. If you are unable or unwilling to participate in the physical practice for any reason, the benefits of yoga can still be accessed. We can arrange meditation, relaxation and Yoga Nidra sessions for individuals or groups. Yoga Nidra (wakeful sleep) is a deep, guided relaxation during which great transformations may occur.
